Year 1 classroom extension to a rural primary school

The school extension is designed to foster interactive learning and environmental stewardship among children. Inspired by the imaginations of our young clients, the classroom features playful, differently sized windows that offer strategic child height views of the garden. A rainwater harvesting tank is used for play and irrigation, and rain garden, packed with flood resistant plants, aims to sharpen the minds to flood resilience.

Environmentally, the building uses a prefabricated timber frame to minimise embodied carbon and a south-facing, solar-ready roof and high levels of insulation complete the sustainable design. Here, interactive learning and environmental responsibility are not add-ons, but the very foundation upon which the future generation is built.
